

The Scottish flag is also part of what composes the British flag, and the white diagonal cross on the base color blue is called "St. Andrew's Cross". St. Andrew is a patron saint of Scottland and is said to have been executed on an X shaped cross. Legend goes that the design was used from around the 9th century and is said to be the oldest flag used in the world.
