The Danish national flag is called "Dannebrog", which is an archaic term for "red cloth". Legend goes that a flag with a red base and white cross fell from the sky while the Danish king ValdemarⅡwas battling with pagans from Estonia, reversing the course of the war and enabling victory for Denmark. "Dannebrog" is considered to the oldest flag in the world, but it was officialized only in 1854.
