Divided vertically into three parts with the basic Arabic colors of red, white, and black. In the center it is written, "God is Great". The green color of the writing is considered to be a holy color that symbolizes Islam. The origin of the flag was made in 1963 during the Ba'ath Administration. Since then, the design was changed a number of times, during the Hussein Administration, after the fall of the administration, and in 2008, into the current design.
