The Camobian flag has changed every time the administration did. During the French colonial period, on a red base with blue trimming was Angkor Wat illustrated in white, and this is the base design of the flag today. The current flag is what was used when Cambodia gained independence from the French protectorate in 1953 and became a kingdom and was made official in 1993 after the constitutional monarchy was recovered.
