Location of BhutanBhutan means "the country of the thunder dragan" in the common Dzongka language. The dragan is also depicted in the national flag. Many flags with similar design were made in the mid 20th century, and the current one has been used from 1956. The yellow in the upper left represents the king's power, while the orange in the right below represents Buddism. The white color of the dragan symbolizes purity, and the sacred gem held by the four feet refers to the wealth and prosperity.
