Flag of Morocco
The current flag was established when the nation attained independence from Spain in 1956. The base red color is the traditional crown color of the ancestors, House of Alaouite. The green star in the center is called "Star of Solomon". Solomon or Sulaiman is one of the prophets who appear in the Islamic Holy Quran. Green is said to symbolize the holy color in Islam.
