Red represents revolution and the citizens who sacrificed for the revolution, white, hopeful bright future, and black, overcoming the dark ages of foreign control. In the center is a yellow eagle. This eagle was used especially in Egypt and Syria in the 12th century and is the symbol of Salah ad-Din Yusuf, who is known as a Crusador and also as a humanitarian. Below the eagle is written "Egypt and Arab Repuglic" in Arabic.
