The design originates from the red colored one that the Indian National Congress selected in 1931.The Safran color represents the Hindu religion, green, the Islamic religion, and white, reconciliation. In the center, is designed Chakra (spinning wheel), which is a symbol of Buddhism, originating from the Ashoka Emperor's edicts pillars. The Indian flag symbolizes three out of the four major religions in the world.
