Established in 1967, a year before independence, in the center is depicted the traditional shield and spear and also a branch decorated with birds' wings. The shield and spear of the Eswatini warrior depicted in this unique emblem represents the strong determination to fight against those who threaten autonomy, and the the white and black crown staff (the thin long slate held in the right) with wings of blue pin-tailed whydah represents the Black and Caucasian people who live in Eswatini. Also, the blue base represents the clear sky and peace, while red represents war for freedom.
