The military government of Myanmar suddenly announced on October 21st 2010 that it would change the design of the national flag and ordered the old flag to be burned the following day. It is unclear why the changes were made at this timing. The yellow, green, and red three colored flag is the same design of Burma, which Japan helped establish after the Second World War. Yellow represents peace, green, the prosperous land, and red, courage.
