Although there was no official national flag in Canada in the old days, discussions around having a national flag continued for up to a century, and after committee members discussed on a design that was collaboratively made in 1964 and further considerations, the flag was made official. The red and white colors are Canada's symbolic colors. Depicted in the center is the maple leaf, which has also been the symbol of Canada for many years.
