Flag of United States of America

The design was made official with independence in 1775. When Hawaii became an official State in 1960, the number of stars added to 50, and the current flag came to be used. The flag is often called "Stars and Stripes", and there are 13 stripes of red and white. This represents the 13 States at the time of declaration of independence. Stars were only 13 as well but increased as the number of States increased.
