The flag is based on the three colored Egyptian flag and uses the Arabic colors of green, red, and black. Red represents battle and martyrs or Arabic people, revolution or patriotism, and black, the black flag that represented Sudan during the Mahdi revolution and also "Black people" as the nations name expresses. Green represents prosperity, wealth, and agriculture while also symbolizing Islam.
